Description Despite the presence of electricity in Phanes as a whole, running power to heat and cool on a domestic level would tax the grid beyond its limits. To make up for the lack of home refrigerators, many Humans and Barren have taken to scrapping together simple Ice Boxes to keep the abundant beef and vegetables from spoiling.
Every winter, when the ice becomes deep and thick, teams of Barren are sent out by the Government to collect ice for the coming thaw. While the stores of ice rarely make it through to the next cold season, they generally last long enough to keep the majority of the raised beef and milk from spoiling.
